It promotes community-focused adaptation, supports local green economies, divests from fossil fuels, and requires carbon accountability, ensuring action aligns with national priorities and Global South realities like resilience and equitable development.

1. POWERS OF THE ASSOCIATION:

h) to develop, promote, and certify standards, best practices, and benchmarks for zero-carbon living and operations for individuals and organizations;i) to establish a carbon reduction verification or recognition program for members who demonstrably reduce their environmental footprint.

2. CLIMATE-CONSCIOUS OPERATIONS

a) The Society shall strive to minimize the carbon footprint of its own operations.b) Committee and general meetings shall be held virtually by default, with in-person meetings being the exception and requiring a majority vote justifying the need for physical presence. c) The Society shall adopt a sustainable procurement policy, prioritizing the purchase of local, recycled, reusable, and low-carbon goods and services where feasible. d) The Society shall not invest its funds in or partner with organizations whose core activities involve fossil fuel extraction, distribution, or infrastructure. e) The Treasurer's annual report shall include a section on the Society's estimated operational carbon footprint and the measures taken to reduce it.

3. CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP / CONDUCT

All members, upon joining and annually thereafter, shall be encouraged to pledge to work towards reducing their personal or organizational carbon footprint and to participate in Society initiatives aimed at this goal. Failure to adhere to the Society's core environmental values may be grounds for review of membership under Clause 4.3(c).

4. DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE:

f) The Committee shall have a duty to consider the environmental impact of every significant decision it makes on behalf of the Society.
